ProofMode is a lightweight and minimal camera app developed by The Guardian Project. It is designed to provide users with an easy way to add digital proof data to all their photos and videos. One of the main goals of ProofMode is to offer a no-setup-required user experience that works seamlessly without any training. The app uses strong cryptography for identity and verification features, ensuring the security and authenticity of your media files. It generates "proof" data formats that can be easily parsed and imported by existing tools, such as CSV files.

ProofMode does not modify the original media files but stores all the proof metadata in a separate file. This ensures that your photos and videos remain intact while providing the necessary proof data. Additionally, the app supports both full "proof" data generation and simpler sha1/sha256 hash and PGP signature options for media files.

ProofMode is an open-source project, and its source code is available on GitHub for transparency and community contributions. The app also acknowledges the use of icons from the Google Material Design Icon library and the App Intro library under their respective licenses. Spongy Castle, which is used in ProofMode, has the same adaptation of the MIT X11 License as Bouncy Castle.
